| Pro-choice | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| Personally, I would not want a woman's first choice to be abortion. However, I am of the stern belief that I do not wield the power to control or limit the options that women have. I believe in a woman's right to choose. | |||
| Yes | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| Yes | Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare? | ||
| I support federal funding for Social Security and Medicare. Everyone pays taxes, and therefore, should have the right to retire comfortably. I also believe that healthcare should be affordable for all. The rising cost of life-saving medicines has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||
| I do support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions to keep track of how much is contributed to each campaign. This would level the playing field with my opponents and prevent money from being the driving force behind policies. | |||
| No | Do you support increasing defense spending? | ||
| As a veteran, I would not support increasing defense spending because I know the effects of war. I would never vote to go to war because, often, it is people being sent that look like you and me. | |||
| Yes | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| No | Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Unlike my opponents, I do not support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth. We should be investing in small business owners, especially minority business owners. Statistically, minority business owners are less likely to be invested in than their white counterparts. | |||
| Yes | Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards? | ||
| As an owner of a, five-star, Pre-K center it is my firm belief that Pre-K should be universal. Free breakfast and lunch should be enforced for all schools in these United States for grades K-12. Parents should not have to worry about paying for their child's meals at school. | |||
| Yes | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| Scientists have continued to warn us of the oncoming effects of global warming. It is harmful to our environment and affecting our ability to have sustainable agriculture. I will work to restore the carbon emissions regulations put in place by President Obama's administration that was repealed by our current President's administration. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support gun-control legislation? | ||
| I support sensible gun-control legislation. There have been too many lives lost due to gun violence. We need to pass sensible gun legislation that includes universal background checks, advanced screening, and mental health evaluations. We do not need weapons on the streets that can fire hundreds of rounds in seconds. | |||
| No | Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")? | ||
| I do support the Affordable Care Act, but I do believe that there should be revisions to it. No one should have to decide between living expenses and medication. | |||
| No | Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border? | ||
| No | Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? | ||
| We should be creating pathways to citizenship instead of criminalizing and putting up barriers for people seeking a better life in the United States. There is no excuse for separating children from parents at our borders and confining them in cages. | |||
| No | Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts? | ||
| I do support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts because, as a veteran, I know the effects of war. I believe that the current administration has done a disservice to the American people by getting involved in affairs that do not concern us. I believe that we should first focus on our domestic policy concerns before international concerns. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)? | ||
| I do support removing barriers like tariffs and quotas on international trade because the consumer pays the difference. By placing tariffs on imported goods, the weight is placed on the consumer to pay a higher price for these goods. | |||
| My first priority is to lift communities out of poverty by giving people opportunities to start their own businesses and mentorship programs. By doing this, socioeconomically challenged individuals would be able to be on equal ground with their competitors. My second initiative is to push for universal Pre-K and child care. As an owner of a Pre-K center, I have seen firsthand the benefits to effective child care development. My third initiative would be to improve the lives of veterans. No one should serve our country and be left homeless and helpless in the street. |
